Surrounded by “mixed-period” residential architecture, the residents of the Northcote home commissioned the architects of Modscape to create a modern dwelling for them.

In addition to the family-of-four’s living requirements, the architects were asked to construct a home based on the family’s Pinterest inspiration board, which allowed them to compile a photomontage of residential design ideas. According to the architects at Modscape, “Designed with imagination, urban planning and passive design, this home in Northcote redefines the concept of the modern family home.”

The 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms single-family home is comprised of five modules over two floors. The design plan for the ground and second floor create a centralised area on each floor that optimizes the interior and exterior space. Uniquely Northcote has no front fence, creating a larger, unconfined space.

The façade is a combination of spotted gum cladding on the ground floor and ALUCOBOND® aluminum composite material cladding on the second.

Careful spatial planning allowed for the property to reduce solar heat intake in the summer while also benefiting from daylight in the winter. This unique dwelling features numerous sustainable attributes invisible to the naked eye. colors . namibia . The home’s heat is solar powered and all rainwater is harvested, an essential component, given Australia’s semi-arid climate.

While small residential construction is not the typical application for ALUCOBOND® composite materials, it is a fantastic example of the material’s ability to contribute to the modernity of residential architecture.
