Design firms Studio Hollenstein, in association with Stewart Architecture, were awarded the prestigious Sir Zelman Cowen Award for Public Architecture, at the Australian Institute of Architects National Awards ceremony earlier this month.
Set to become Australia’s most densely populated precinct, an added 60,000 new residents are planned to move into Green Square over the next 15 years. With the district being transformed into a high-density apartment metropolis, the designers were looking for a roofing material that would stand the test of time. A system that collects rainwater, which is then recycled and reused in the library, is located underneath the square’s paving so, the architects would have been pleased to know that Swisspearl® is also manufactured with a high level of environmental awareness.
